Locks are graded by the ANSI in 3 grades that are determined by the strength and the number of complete key cycles.

Grade 1 locks are most commonly used on commercial doors where there is heavy usage and a need for high security. Some residential locks are available in grade 1 on certain occasions.

Grade 2 locks are mainly used by residential and some commercial. They are made with strong materials like Stainless Still and Brass which can endure being exposed to harsh environments.

Grade 3 locks are the least strong and durable of the 3 lock grades. They are generally used for doors that do not require security.
